KUCHING: Some 30 students of Kuching Community College yesterday took part in sports and gotong-royong activities with villagers of Kampung Santubong near here under a National Youth Heir Programme 2019.
Malaysia Information Department (JaPen) Sarawak director Abang Sardon Abang Hashim said the programme aimed at producing skilled, competent and ethical human resource.
The activities began as early as 8am with gymnastics and sports at the Nurir Rahmani Mosque in Kampung Santubong, followed by a gotong-royong activity on Santubong beach involving participants of different backgrounds, races and religions.
In addition to establishing a smart partnership between the Information Department, villagers and selected students, the programme also acted as a platform for disseminating and marketing government policies and programmes.
Abang Sardon said the National Youth Heir Programme 2019 will be held from October 31 to November 3 at Felda Tun Ghafar Hutan Percha, Alor Gajah, Melaka.
Sarawak will be represented by four youths at the national-level event.
