PUSA: Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor urged parents to encourage their children to pursue skill-based training at government vocational institutions.

He particularly emphasised the importance of vocational and technical education as an alternative pathway for students who did not achieve outstanding results in the recent Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2023 exam.

Razaili said this during his opening speech at the N29 Beting Maro Mantar Gawai Dayak celebration held at SK Muton here yesterday.

“Parents should motivate their children to engage in skill-based fields, especially in areas like food processing, which offer numerous career opportunities,” he said.

Echoing this sentiment, Batang Lupar MP Mohamad Shafizan Kepli expressed concerns about the academic performance of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Pusa students in the recent SPM exam.

He stressed the importance of education and urged parents to instill its value in their children to ensure they excel in their studies.

During the event, Razaili and Shafizan also presented a cheque totalling RM25,600 to be distributed to 10 local longhouses for their on the upcoming Gawai celebration.

The event was attended by several notable figures, including the special officer to Premier Datuk Bujang Helmi Hazemi, deputy resident of Betong Division Mahra Saleh, and Pusa acting district officer Jemain Wahab.
