MIRI: Students are urged to embrace technology and be technologically savvy.
“The world today is increasingly competing on knowledge-based economy making intellectual capital a vital asset in national development,” said Tourism, Arts and Culture Assistant Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting yesterday.
Speaking at an achievement award presentation ceremony for Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Baru held at Eastwood Valley Golf Club here, he said Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) would be key factors in future development strategies.
“In future, there will be no longer resources capitalism, no more oil and gas but intellectual capitalism,” he reckoned.
Hence, the Sarawak government was focusing on the development of digital economy.
A total of 137 students who excelled in their public examinations received awards at the event.
Also present was the school’s principal Jerrah Pandin.
