KUCHING: SugarBun is looking forward to expanding the brand in the Indonesian market, the company said yesterday.
SugarBun Supplies and Logistic Sdn Bhd general manager, Raymond Teo said in an interview that the company aims to bring the brand further into the international market.
“We (SugarBun) are aiming to penetrate the international market especially in Jakarta, Indonesia as plans for a franchise there are set for this July,” he said during the launching of SugarBun’s 40th anniversary celebration meal held at the company’s headquarters at Wisma SugarBun.
“We see an impending potential in the market overseas as SugarBun has a bright future in the international market,” he said.
Raymond also said that the brand had set their target for the Indonesian market as there are similarities in their culture and traditions with ours.
“Indonesia is our main target because there’s a lot of similarities in the food we have here and over there. As for going big, we would aim for the American or Indian market as the population is huge there, so the potential is big,” he said.
He also said that domestically, the SugarBun franchise would be expanding its market towards West Malaysia and Sabah.
“Currently, we have over 80 outlets in Sarawak. Competition here is tough as our population is small and yet the overseas franchise is booming.
“So the next step is to expand the brand further elsewhere,” Raymond said.
