KUCHING: The 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma XXI) Sarawak 2024 has garnered a total of 27 sponsors, with contributions in cash and in-kind amounting to RM13,040,360.
Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah expressed the Sarawak government’s gratitude for the generous contributions and steadfast commitment of the sponsors.
“Your belief in the potential of our young athletes and your dedication to promoting sports excellence will truly make a profound impact on this prestigious national sports event.
“We appreciate the contributions and support from our Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze sponsors, comprising corporate bodies, statutory bodies, and government-linked companies,” he said.
“Apart from that, we also have six official partners: Malaysia Airlines (Airlines Partner), Grab (E-Hailing Partner), Keris Sakti (Merchandise Partner), Rapid Bus (Transport Partner), TVS, and RTM (Official Broadcasters).”
He made these remarks during the 21st Sukma and Para Sukma sponsors appreciation ceremony at Sheraton Hotel here today (July 17).
Abdul Karim also highlighted that the event represents a smart partnership between the federal government, Sarawak government, sports associations, NGOs, volunteers and important stakeholders.
“This partnership has not only assisted in organising a successful national sports event but also contributed to the development of sports at the grassroots level, nurturing future national and state champions and promoting a healthier and more active community.”
Regarding incentives for winning Sarawak athletes, Abdul Karim assured reporters that the Sarawak government will not overlook them.
“If our athletes win, there must be incentives for gold, silver and bronze.
“However, at this time, we are not emphasising that much. I want to see athletes win based on their genuine desire to fight for the state and the country, not for rewards. But we will not forget incentives,” he said.
