KUCHING: The upcoming Malaysia Games 21 (Sukma) in Sarawak is poised to make history with the largest number of sports events ever organised.

The official meeting of the Sukma Supreme Committee, presided over by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, unanimously decided to include a record-breaking 37 sports disciplines in Sukma 21.

The highly anticipated games are scheduled to take place from August 17 to 24, 2024.

Sharing the news on her Facebook page, Yeoh revealed that the committee also deliberated on appeals for the inclusion of seven additional sports in Sukma 2024.

Ultimately, they agreed to incorporate five sports that already boast National Youth Championships, namely softball, cricket, chess, kabaddi, and silambam. However, to ensure their inclusion, these sports will require participation from at least six states.
