KUALA LUMPUR: Kegler pair Lavinia Kho Jia Jie and Nur Hazirah Ramli did the state proud once again, emerging champions of the women’s doubles event at yesterday’s (Sept 19) edition of the ongoing Sukma Games.
They confirmed gold in the final round of the match at Sunway Megalanes, Subang with 2,374 pinfalls against Melaka and Johor’s 2,306 and 2,268 pinfalls respectively.
“Always do your best and never give up in a match. We must always believe in our abilities and knowledge that we learnt in our training,” said Jia Jie when asked to share her secret to victory.
Her teammate, Hazirah, was also content with their conquest.
“We are grateful for the support that is always there for us,” she said.
Previously, Jia Jie and Hazirah claimed the top two spots in the women’s singles category
Jia Jie took home the gold when she posted a score of 1,271, while the silver was claimed by Hazirah with a score of 1,268.
Meanwhile, for the men’s trios category, Sarawak finished third and took the bronze medal through Abner Loo Chun Lik, Musayyar Khalid and Abang Afiq Yazid Abang Azman with 3,665 pinfalls.
Gold was won by Megat Zaqrul Haiqal, Muhammad Hariz Adlan and Muhammad Shafiy Zaim from Penang with 3,671 pinfalls.
While silver was clinched by FT Kuala Lumpur with 3,667 pinfalls from Matthew Ong Tzi Ming, Ahmad Azriq and Muhammad Hazim.
