SAMARAHAN: Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie has been reappointed as Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Board of Directors chairman by the Minister of Higher Education Malaysia.
His reappointment takes effect from yesterday (Mar 15) until Mar 14 2023.
According to UNIMAS vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi in his Facebook page, Sulong, who was born in Saratok, is a former Federal Court judge and that he is a leader with extensive experience in administration and leadership at the state and federal levels.
“His contribution and role as chairman of the Board of Directors throughout his appointment, beginning in 2018, has helped develop UNIMAS as a respected and leading public university in the region, especially in terms of support to planning and strategic alliances; and the setting of University policy.
“On behalf of UNIMAS’ staff, we would like to congratulate Sulong. We believe that this reappointment will continue to make UNIMAS an excellent higher education sector and at the same time will help enhance UNIMAS’ strategic cooperation with stakeholders,” he said.
