BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, departed for Malaysia yesterday after having completed His Majesty’s three-day state visit to Brunei Darussalam.

Sultan Abdullah and the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, were sent off at the Brunei International Airport by Brunei Crown Prince Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Ibni Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his consort Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah Pengiran Salleh Ab Rahaman and the Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei, Ismail Salam. Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and the rest of the Malaysian entourage also accompanied Their Majesties on their return to Malaysia. Earlier, Sultan Abdullah visited the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) here.

His Majesty was received on arrival by the Religious Affairs Minister of Brunei, who is also MUIB President, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin Othman as well as the staff of the council and Brunei Religious Affairs Ministry officials. During the goodwill visit lasting about 90 minutes, Sultan Abdullah was given a royal briefing on the council’s department and was shown a special exhibition of the department, the Mosque Fund, The Islamic Law Unit and the Halal Food Control Division.

The goodwill visit was part of Sultan Abdullah’s three-day State Visit to Brunei beginning Sunday (Aug 18) which was His Majesty’s first state visit since he was installed as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on July 30.

Among MUIB’s roles was to provide advice to the Sultan of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah on all matters concerning Islamic religion. In a separate programme, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah visited the Rumah Pertubuhan Perkumpulan Perempuan (W.I) in Bukit Bendera, Tutong here to observe the Brunei traditional food demonstration weaving products besides planting a tree at the organisation’s Building ground. Tunku Azizah was accompanied during the visit by Pengiran Anak Puteri Masna Bolkiah, who is a sister of Sultan Hassanal. – Bernama
