ROBAN: The Sungai Seblak waterfront, as a leisure location, will continue to be upgraded through allocations provided by the Betong Divisional Development Agency (BDDA).
Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir said that previously, the waterfront was developed under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) involving three phases.
According to him, some RM450,000 was invested to beautify the area.
“After this, our commitment is to list the Seblak Waterfront infrastructure upgrade project in the second phase of the BDDA, with an estimated cost of RM1.5mil.
“We believe that with the completion of the landmark in Roban town, it will be able to attract people for recreational activities.”
He said this during a dinner in conjunction with the Moon Cake Festival organised by the SJKC Chung Hua Roban Management Board.
Among other things, under RTP 2022, the project to upgrade the SJKC Chung Hua Roban hall, costing RM250,000, is nearly complete.
“According to the Saratok Public Works Department (JKR), as the implementing agency, the work status has reached 93 per cent.
“The contractor is committed to ensuring that it is ready before Oct 23,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri described the celebration of the Lantern Festival, which was attended by students and parents from various ethnic backgrounds, as proof of the community’s harmony, especially in the Roban area.
“This culture must be maintained so that the new generation continues to be educated about the value of diversity.
“When we are all united, we (the government) can implement the development agenda smoothly, which can ultimately be enjoyed by all parties,” he added.
The celebration featured a parade around the Roban Market area and an interesting performance by the SJKC Chung Hua Roban students.
