KUCHING: Members of the public using the Sungai Sian Bintangor ferry have been praised for compliance of standard operating procedures (SOP).
Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing thanked them for being aware and obeying SOPs outlined by the Public Works Department.
“Most interestingly is that there are also life vests being sold for ferry users who want to purchase the safety equipment.
“Such initiative is very good as precautionary measures are taken for the safety of ferry users,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday (Jan 25).
He also urged ferry users to always follow SOPs for their safety.
Among the SOPs included the need for all passengers to get out of their respective vehicles and walk onto the ferry, while life vests would be given as well.
Only drivers were allowed inside the vehicles, and they must also wind down the windows before driving onto the ferry.
