SIBU: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Dudong Branch assisted traders of Grand Height Wet Market in Hulu Lanang to apply for the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) aid.
Its chairman Wong Ching Yong said almost all traders registered with the local authorities are BKSS recipients.
“Due to not being familiar with using online services, they (traders) came forward to seek our assistance and it has been resolved,” he said yesterday.
Earlier, face masks were also distributed to traders at the wet market.
According to Wong, the traders have informed that business had dropped significantly due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the enforcement of the conditional movement control order (CMCO).
Wong said quite a large number of traders had claimed their businesses decreased by 70 per cent.
“We hope the traders will continue to be patient and abide by the standard operating procedure (SOP) that has been set. “With the government allowing businesses to resume, we hope things will improve soon in the future,” Wong said.
