KUCHING: It is a disgrace that Democratic Action Party (DAP) still went ahead and announced their decision to negotiate with MUDA to join the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.
Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Batu Kitang branch secretary Tnay Li Ping said that DAP, who wants to appear as “clean” and against corruption are in cahoots with MUDA whose leader, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, has been charged with dishonest misuse of funds and money laundering in court.
“Despite the DAP slogans of anti-corruption, the party is very hypocritical and completely insincere,” she said.
She pointed out that party is still silent over the scandal of its chairman Lim Guan Eng, who is being accused of corruption in connection with the RM6.3 billion Penang undersea tunnel project.
“Now that Pakatan Harapan (PH) is linked to the MUDA leader who was accused of money laundering and other crimes, where is the so called determination of the DAP to fight corruption.
“Or is it just “syiok sendiri” shouting slogans of anti-corruption?” she asked.
She noted that DAP would only make a big fuss about the corruption of leaders from the rival camps, but would turn a blind eye to the alleged corruption of their own leaders and friends by sweeping it under the carpet.
“It can be seen that the anti-corruption and clean government chants by the DAP are all tactics in an attempt to deceive voters,” she added.
She said that the Sarawak government under the leadership of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is serious and sincere in fighting corruption.
“Even in 2019, chairman of Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Latheefa Beebi Koya, appointed by PH highly praised the state government’s efforts in anti-corruption matters,” she added.
Tnay pointed out, at that time, Latheefa urged all state governments to set up integrity units to prevent corruption or abuse of power.
“But only the Sarawak government responded to the call and established the Integrity and Ombudsman Unit in the Premier’s office.
“This unit has been established for years to check corruption within the civil service. This reflects the high integrity our state government,” she added.
She pointed out that Penang, which is headed by DAP, was recently exposed by the chief commissioner of the MACC Tan Sri Azam Baki.
“The situation of bribery, abuse of power and false declaration by public servants in that state is worrying, plus as many as 919 complaints had been reported related to corrupt practices,” she added.
Tnay said that for Sarawakians, GPS is the way forward.
“Come GE15, we must vote in GPS to continue with our clean and fair governance,” she added.
