KUCHING: The name list of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) candidates for the upcoming general election (GE15) had been submitted to the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
SUPP president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian told the reporters after the launching of SUPP Youth NewBees & Puteri held at SUPP Headquarters here today (October 22) that it is up to the Premier, who is also the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman to decide.
“Like I repeated numerous times, the name list has been submitted to Abang Johari and the final decision will be made soon.
“I know all of you want to know about the name list because everyone wants to get on with it but I cannot reveal the name list to you as the final decision has yet to be made.
“Abang Johari has more than 40 years of experience in politics, I am very sure he knows when is the best time to reveal the name list,” Sim added.
Sim added that the finalised list will be announced, the latest have to be two days before the nomination date on November 5.
“Of course, it has to be two days before. We cannot wait until the day before nomination because what if your flight suddenly gets delayed? Do you think nomination centre is going to wait for you?
“If you are a minute late, you are definitely out of contention. So, yes, the list will definitely be out, the latest for sure two days before the nomination date,” Sim explained.
