KUCHING: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kuching Branch launched its SUPP Grassroots Operation 2.0 to actively support the state government in effectively tackling people’s challenges and offering influential policy recommendations and guidance for societal development.
“Through this initiative, we aim to strengthen communication and collaboration between the government and the people.
“Deepen the government’s understanding of grassroots issues, and provide more targeted and effective services for grassroots residents, promoting the development of various social endeavours,” said Councillor Bong Siak Peng during a press conference held at the SUPP Kuching Branch premises today (Nov 30).
He explained that the task force would proactively interact with individuals from diverse social groups, fostering direct engagement to obtain a thorough understanding of their living conditions, needs and expectations.
“The Kuching Branch is committed to meticulously documenting and organising the collected data and feedback.
“Our objective is to present a detailed report to the GPS state government next year, providing an accurate representation of public sentiments to support well-informed decision-making.
“This initiative aims to foster stronger bonds between the government and the community while addressing crucial issues concerning livelihoods, the economy, and political affairs,” he explained.
The Grassroots Operation task force is headed by Councillor Wung Duk Ying, accompanied by Councillor Bong Siak Peng and deputy secretary of our Kuching Branch, Chai Mian Nyen.
Also present during the press conference was SUPP Kuching Branch’s chairlady, Datuk Lily Yong, whose involvement in similar grassroots initiatives during the 1990s provided invaluable insights and guidance for the present operation.
