KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kuching has urged its members to participate in the branch, youth and women section’s Triennial General Meeting (TGM) on Nov 10 to elect a united leadership that will continue to contribute to the party and the people.
The present branch committee members and nominees for the 30th TGM and election said that candidates will strictly adhere to the party central’s election rules and regulations.
“Kuching branch is the second-largest branch within SUPP. Since its establishment 65 years ago, it has always honoured the founding goals set by its predecessors — to seek autonomy for Sarawak and create a prosperous society for people of all ethnicities.
“Past committee members have upheld the founding spirit of their predecessors by uniting with integrity, serving the people sincerely, upholding justice, and not succumbing to power or privilege,” the committee said in a statement.
They added that the branch election committee has handled candidates’ nomination forms with flexibility and leniency.
“Unless there is a serious violation of the party’s election rules and regulations, technical non-compliance has been accommodated, providing a fair opportunity for all candidates. the branch election committee’s approach in prioritising unity deserves support.”
They went on to expressed regret over the involvement of certain external forces attempting to intervene in the election for ulterior motives.
“We call for party members to unite, reject misleading propaganda, and oppose division,” the committee members said.
