LUNDU: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) will contest in all its seven traditional seats, namely Bandar Kuching, Stampin, Serian, Sarikei, Sibu, Lanang and Miri in the forthcoming general election.
In disclosing this on Sunday, party president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian called on the party’s candidates to work hard on the ground to get the people’s vote come polling day on Nov 19.
Winning Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) all 31 parliamentary seats will enable Sarawak to voice out important matters in parliament later, he said.
“I hope we will work hard during this election period together under the GPS umbrella and win all the seats here.
“This is the opportunity for us to grab and for the Sarawakian voice to be heard in parliament about our rights that we lost many years ago,” said Dr Sim after the SUPP Opar and Tanjung Datu branch committee commissioning ceremony at Chung Hua Lundu hall.
On another matter, he reiterated that the Democratic Action Party (DAP) lacked ideas on issues related to Sarawak.
“When DAP and Pakatan Harapan (PH) were the federal government, what did they do for Sarawak?
“All they did was talk about what Umno did and (former prime minister Datuk Seri) Najib Razak.
“They are ‘bankrupt’ of ideas and only talking nonsense. They never talk about what we Sarawakians want,” he said.
Also present at the ceremony were Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang and Tanjung Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan.
