KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Youth Central Education Bureau will be conducting a series of Malaysia Higher Education Seminar and Counselling for free for those who just obtained their STPM or SPM results.
The seminar and counselling would be held in Sarawak, namely in Kuching, Sibu, Miri, Sarikei, Limbang and Bintulu, said SUPP Youth Central chairman, Tan Kai at a press conference.
Education Bureau chief Lai Huat Choi said the seminars were meant to enlighten students and parents on the latest information on courses, scholarships and study loans, entry requirements offered by local public universities (IPTA) and assistance for IPTA on-line application.
Besides the seminar and ‘one to one’ counselling session, SUPP Youth Central Education Bureau will also host counselling on Facebook for those unable to attend the counselling session.
Lai said the Facebook group name is “SUPP Youth Higher Education Counselling”.
For Kuching Division, two seminars will be conducted separately for STPM and SPM. The seminar for STPM will be held tomorrow (4 March) at 7.00pm at Dewan Sa’ati of SUPP headquarters in Kuching.The seminar for SPM will be held at the same venue at 7.00pm on 18 March.
Apart from the experienced speakers from SUPP Youth Education Bureau, SUPP has invited two experienced speakers, namely Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chin Suk Fun from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and an officer from Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) to speak at the seminar tomorrow.
For the seminar on 18 March, SUPP is arranging an officer from Suruhanjaya PerkhidmatanAwam (SPA) to deliver the application procedure for SPM or STPM leavers who would be interested to apply for the technical training under government sector as nurses, medical assistants, agriculture training and etc. Therefore, all students and parents are welcome to attend the seminar.
The seminar will be also be held at Wawasan Inn in Sarikei at 1.00pm on 11 March, SUPP Sibu at 7.00pm at SUPP Sibu on 11 March, SUPP office Bintulu at 1.00pm and SUPP Piasau branch at 7.00pm on 18 March.
