KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and United People’s Party (UPP) are negotiating on reconciliation, said SUPP President Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
“We always said that we are open to negotiation. It is a work in progress. We are not only welcoming UPP, but also Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) to join us,” he told the media after the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Pre-Council meeting held at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters at Jalan Bako, yesterday.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing, when asked to comment on Datuk Talib Zulpilip’s appointment as Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Integrity and Ombudsman), said he was the right person for the position.
“This is to show that Sarawak is serious about tackling corruption and malpractices in the administration.
We are not only ‘cakap sahaja’; we have the body to handle all these, and Talib is the right person,” he said, adding, Talip is a man with integrity.
Newly appointed Assistant Minister for Native Land Development Datuk Roland Sagah said he was glad to be able to assist Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, who is also Minister of Native Land and Regional Development.
“I am glad to be able to assist Uggah in this matter, and of course, it involves a lot of Native Customary Right (NCR) issues relating to plantations, commercial and agricultural mini estates and many others,” he said.
He added that he would get the direction from the minister when reporting for duty today.
