KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Stakan branch has launched the ‘Team Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok Campaign’ to introduce the party’s branch chairman as the potential candidate for the Stampin Parliamentary seat in the 15th general election (GE15).
SUPP Stakan branch secretary Sivanesan Sanmugalingam said the campaign would be done through a three pronged approach namely door to door campaign on the ground, mainstream media, and social media.
“Datuk Sim, is multifaceted, a businessman, politician, social worker and philanthropist.
“And we feel he will be the best person to be our next MP. Datuk Sim will compliment all our state assembly persons and add value over and above carrying out his duty as a parliamentarian,” he said.
In addition, Sivanesan said Sim is the most feared candidate to Democratic Action Party (DAP).
“As an aspiring parliamentarian we will concentrate most of our campaign on federal issues and where Datuk Sim would be able to help solve the issue,” he said.
He added Sim, who is 59 years old and his long service to SUPP and continued service in Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) shows his loyalty and belief towards GPS policy, he subscribes to the Premier’s attitude of moderation and will be an asset to GPS should he be chosen by the leaders to represent our party.
Meanwhile, SUPP Stakan branch deputy chairman Pung Siok Eng said that she represents the whole branch as well as the many supporters such as non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the private sector who all agree that Sim is the best candidate to face DAP and win back the Stampin seat for GPS.
Meanwhile, SUPP Stakan branch youth chief Valentine Daley Yong said that the youth section stood firmly behind the main party to nominate Sim as the candidate to win back the Stampin seat for GPS and SUPP.
“We are confident that Sim, the most feared candidate for DAP and Pakatan Harapan (PH) and if given the opportunity, would recapture the Stampin seat for GPS,” he said.
