KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Central Youth secretary-general Milton Foo has asked Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong why she thought it wrong for him to ask her how much development fund has been allocated by the federal government for Pending constituency this year.
Foo in a press statement said Yong had in a press conference stated that 569 projects were approved by the federal government this year. So how many are for Pending?
He pointed out that she uploaded “details of the 569 Pakatan Harapan federal projects in Sarawak for 2019” spelling out the total project cost of RM41 billion and RM4.3 billion for this year’s allocation to carry out the projects but did not say how many projects are to be in her constituency.
“I am disappointed that Yong chose not to answer my simple questions. She has been evading my questions by directing me to go through the proper channels for official information such as writing to the federal Minister Finance Lim Guan Eng. Why should I when she is the elected representative for Pending. It is her responsibility to let the voters know,” said Foo.
Foo lamented that Yong was delighted to see new government clinics (Klinik Kesihatan) for areas such as Tabuan Jaya, Mile 17 (Siburan) and Sibuyau.
He asked, “Why was the upgrading of Klinik Kesihatan Tanah Puteh in Pending delayed?”
Yong, he said, should also see the schools in Pending such as SK Kenyalang which is in urgent need of more classrooms; upgrading and repairing of the main roads such as Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Utama, Jalan Datuk Marikan Salleh, and also concrete drains at Lorong 1T & 1V of Jalan Foochow which are all in her constituency.
He also urged Yong to ask for the construction of “Rumah Mesra Rakyat” in Pending to eliminate squatter issues within Pending constituency such as those in a house at South Peace Road, Kampung Sg Periok and Kampung Seri Maimunah.
