KUCHING: Where’s the logic? This is SUPP Youth secretary Milton Fo o’s response to Deputy Minister for Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Chong Chieng Jen who had suggested that the state government make use of its reserves of RM34 billion to repair dilapidated schools.

Foo said it was the federal government’s duty to provide funds for repairing, upgrading and constructing school buildings.

“If the Sarawak government has to undertake this role, then why are we still in Malaysia? Might as well we stay out. Do not shun your duty,” he said.

Foo recalled that Chong had assured that Putrajaya would allocate 31 per cent of the 2019 Budget to Sarawak.

“Sarawak is still waiting. Before the Budget, Chong was talking about it and after the Budget, he remains silent,” he said.

Foo ticked off the deputy minister for making empty promises, saying that Chong had pledged that the PH government would fight for Sarawak’s rights and ensure that everyone would be treated fairly.

“Now, we can see his true colours sitting in the Federal cabinet and lying to Sarawakians. He should be more pro-active and not talk only. Stop playing politics and do your work and give us what you had promised,” he said.
