KUCHING: Support for the unity government and the Sarawak government is crucial to fully realise the negotiations regarding the demands outlined in the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63).
Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Batang Lupar branch chief Abang Zulkifli Abang Engkeh stated that the unity government bears a greater responsibility to achieve the agenda of development.
“In the context of Sarawak, we need to support the unity government and the Sarawak government to ensure the successful negotiation of the demands within the MA63.
“Therefore, we can align ourselves with any platform (besides MUDA) that focuses more on advocating for the people’s rights rather than just politics,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Earlier, he criticised the action of Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, who officially withdrew his support for the unity government.
He emphasised that the president of MUDA’s act of leaving the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is a betrayal of the people.
Elevating young individuals to lead in the future will not benefit the country, he added.
“Hence, I urge his supporters, especially MUDA comrades in Sarawak, to no longer support him, as it is evident that his agenda is solely focused on personal interests rather than the people’s welfare,” he stated.
Furthermore, he said this action was also seen by many as sabotaging the government’s sincere efforts to restore harmony and the nation’s economy.
