SIMANGGANG: The Surau Darul Hasanah at Taman Harmoni in Sri Aman was declared open on Friday (Sep 4).
Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis who graced the thanksgiving and opening ceremony of the surau said that the construction project was part of the government efforts to provide the needs for the local community.
“The construction project of the surau shows that the government is concerned and considerate about the needs of the local community such as providing facilities for places of worship in congregation.
“Besides that, the surau will also provide as a place to hold religious activities,” added Harden who is also Assistant Minister of Community Welfare.
The surau which was built on an open land starting back in 2017 was expected to be fully completed including the construction of the fence in 2019 at a cost of RM171,000 that was channelled through the Basic Infrastructure Project (PIAS) and Sarawak Development Office (SDO).
At the end of the event, a souvenir was presented to Harden from the chairman of the surau committee Sazali Abang Man.
Also present were Sri Aman district officer Mohd Ashree Wee, Officer of Sarawak Islamic Department (Jais) for Sri Aman district Abang Azman Abang Mohamad; Ketua Kampung of Taman Harmoni Ahmad Alwi Kipli and Tuai Rumah Mingging Sigan.
