MIRI: Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, paid a surprise visit to the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complex at Sungai Tujoh near here on Sunday morning.
The unannounced visit was part of an initiative to assess the preparedness of government service counters at key border points, particularly those managing the movement of both local and foreign travellers.
Shamsul was accompanied by Sarawak Federal Secretary, DatukAhmad Nadzri Mohd Hassan, during the visit.
Coincidentally, Deputy Director-General (Control) of Immigration, Datuk Ken Leben, was also present at the location for a scheduled working visit with senior immigration officials.
During the visit, Ken led Shamsul and his entourage on a tour of the Sungai Tujoh ICQS facility, where they conducted an on-the-ground survey to evaluate the operations and efficiency of the border complex.
The visit highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring that border facilities such as Sungai Tujoh ICQS are well-prepared and functioning effectively to manage the influx and outflow of visitors.
