MIRI: A man has been detained by the police on Saturday (Jan 13) in connection with the murder of a security guard, whose lifeless body was discovered inside a room behind an under-construction kindergarten block in Taman Tunku.

The 49-year-old suspect was arrested within 24 hours after the victim’s body was found with severe injuries to the head and neck, believed to be caused by a sharp object.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, while refraining from disclosing further details on the investigation, stated that the motive behind the murder is still under investigation.

The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed by the police, was discovered dead on the floor of the room on Saturday, with serious injuries to the head and neck from a sharp object. Medical personnel from Miri Hospital pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The case is being classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
