KUCHING: An elderly woman was found dead in a house in Kampung Rampangi, Samariang on Monday morning (Sept 21).
Acting district police chief, Supt Merbin Lisa, explained that the victim aged 66, was believed to have been murdered by her grandson.
The suspected murder happened around 11.30pm last Sunday (Sept 20) when they had a misunderstanding regarding money in the victim’s house.

“The next day (Monday), a sibling of the grandmother came to the house to visit and found her in the living room with cuts on her face and chin.
“The sibling then informed the police as well as the suspect’s father,” he said in a phone call with New Sarawak Tribune.

Merbin said the 27-year-old suspect who was found by his father along with other villagers, was handed over to the police.
“The police also found and seized the alleged murder weapon. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he told.
