THE suspect (centre) taken to a police station for questioning.

KUCHING: A wholesale vegetable seller was arrested for allegedly beating up a Kuching South City Council (MBKS) enforcement officer at Stutong Community Market around 8pm on 4 March. The suspect in his 50s was caught in his house at 11th Mile, Kuching-Serian Road.

The suspect had on that night put out his vegetables for sale and was told by a Kuching City South (MBKS) enforcement officer that he was not allowed to sell before 8pm.

It was then that a group of people argued with the enforcement officer where he was later beaten up and sustained injuries on his head and body. The enforcement officer later lodged a police report. The suspect is being detained for questioning.
