MIRI: A house at Jalan Dato Permaisuri here was targeted in a suspected smoke flare incident early this morning.

According to sources, the house owner, a 58-year-old man, alerted the Fire and Rescue Department after noticing smoke inside his property.

The incident occurred at 12.33 am.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage captured unknown individuals throwing an object into the house, shortly followed by smoke.

Worried that the smoke could escalate into a fire, the owner immediately called firemen from the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station, who rushed to the scene.

By the time they arrived, the smoke had already subsided.

Fortunately, there was no sign of fire.

Authorities have confirmed that a police report is being lodged to investigate the incident further.
