SIMANGGANG: A new suspension bridge and access road to Sungai Undop in Kampung Ijok was officially opened last Saturday (Sept 7), almost five years after completion.
The Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project was built at a cost of RM410,000.
Its official opening was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO).
“The purpose of the official opening is to raise awareness in the community and instil gratitude and appreciation for the infrastructure provided, which is meant to ease the movement of residents,”he said Simanggang Assemblyman, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.
“I would like to thank the residents of Kampung Ijok Longhouse, led by Tuai Rumah Jalie Tutong, for not forgetting the contributions of their elected representative and the government in delivering development, even though it took quite a while for us to hold the official opening. However, it is better late than never.”
According to Harden in the Ulu Undop and Sungai Tenggak Menalang areas, there are several RTP projects that have been completed but are yet to be officially launched.
“I urge the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) overseeing these projects to consider holding official openings,” he said.
At the event, he approved a Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation for the JKKK of Rh Jalie, Kampung Ijok, amounting to RM5,000, and a similar amount for the Women’s Bureau.
Also present at the opening were Minjo Simanding, Divisional Engineer, Public Works Development (PWD) Sri Aman Division, Napoleon Muda Jubin, representative of the Acting Resident of Sri Aman Division, Sandin Ajah, representative of the District Officer of Sri Aman, and Pemanca Lee Siang Hua, Chief of the Chinese Community in Sri Aman District.
