MIRI: Police confirmed that two suspicious packages found at a mosque in Senadin on Sunday (Nov 17) afternoon were not explosive devices.

 Police bomb unit at the scene to conduct an inspection.

According to Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the packages, which initially raised alarm for resembling explosives, were found at 1 pm.

Following the discovery, the bomb disposal unit from the Miri district police headquarters (IPD Miri) was promptly deployed to inspect the site.

“After a thorough examination, we can confirm that the packages were not explosives,” said Alexson.

A local man, 32, has since been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police have opened an investigation under Section 298/506 of the Penal Code, which addresses actions likely to incite fear or harm.

Authorities urged the public to refrain from speculating or sharing sensitive information on social media that could escalate concerns within the community.

“We advise the community to remain calm and responsible. Anyone with information about criminal activities should report to the nearest police station or contact us directly at 085-433730,” ACP Alexson added.

The incident has been resolved without any injuries or danger to the public.
