KUCHING: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) will be organising the Sarawak Fama Fest 2023 (SAFF 2023) to provide opportunities to local entrepreneurs to market their products overseas.

Fama Sarawak deputy director (Operations) Ramli Mat Sani said SAFF 2023 would be held at a shopping centre in Miri from Feb 23 to 26.

He said there would be business matching sessions for local entrepreneurs with import agents from Hong Kong, Brunei and Thailand.

“The sessions can assist entrepreneurs in promoting their products apart from being briefed by the agents representing the three countries. Entrepreneurs involved and not involved in the booths at SAFF 2023 can attend to get business matching input from three agents representing each importing country on Feb 24 and 25,” he said at the SAFF 2023 media briefing here today.

Ramli said Fama is targeting SAFF 2023 to generate RM500,000 in sales and attract around 20,000 visitors from Miri and Brunei.

He said the fest would also highlight products from about 40 local agri-based entrepreneurs.

“Apart from Sarawakian entrepreneurs, we will also bring five entrepreneurs from the peninsula whose products are already well-established and export ready,” he said, adding that products at the fest will be reasonably priced.

SAFF 2023 will be officiated by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Chan Foong Hin.

Ramli said Fama will introduce a ‘Rahmah package’ involving the sale of local farmers’ products through the Farm Direct Sales (JTDL) initiative in conjunction with SAFF 2023 with package prices starting from RM10.

“For local products, we have sweet limes. We will also bring in products from Sabah such as pomelo and cabbage and put various agricultural products in each Rahmah package,” he said. – BERNAMA
