CHONGQING, CHINA: The Sarawak media trip in China yesterday continued with a visit to the Three Natural Bridges in Wulong County, a place full of natural landscape, beautiful cave and wonderful mountain.
The Three Natural Bridges are a series of natural limestone bridges located in Xiannüshan Town, Wulong County, Chongqing Municipality, China.
They are located within the Wulong Karst National Geology Park, itself a part of the South China Karst-Wulong Karst UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In Chinese, the bridges are all named after dragons, namely Tianlong ( literally Sky Dragon) Qinglong (literally Azure Dragon) and Heilong (literally Black Dragon).
Spanning the Yangshui River, a tributary of the Wu River, the bridges are at the centre of a 20 kilometre-square (7.7 sq mi) conservation area which also includes, Qinglong Tiankeng, Shenying Tiankeng, Yangshui River Karst Canyon, Longshui Gorges, Central Shiyuan Tiankeng, Lower Shiyuan Tiankeng, Seventy-two Branch Cave, Longquan Cave, Immortal Cave, Hidden Monkey Stream, and Hidden Baiguo Stream.
Given that the distance between the upper end of the Tianlong Bridge and the lower end of the Heilong Bridge is only 1,500 metres (4,900 ft), these are not the longest natural bridges. However, they are the only such group of karst structures in the world. Between the bridges lie the Qinglong and Shenying tiankengs which have a depth of 276–285 metres and a circumference of 300–522 metres. On the next day, the group continued to visit Yichang city which took about four hours by speed train.
After arriving at the city, the group was brought to visit the Three Gorges Waterfall Scenic Spot.
Located in the Xiling Gorge of Yichang city, between Three-Gorges Dam and the Gezhouba Dam, covering an area of 140,000 square kilometres, Three-Gorges Tribe Scenic Spot is well known for its primitive folk culture as well as its picturesque landscape of wild streams, peculiar rocks, deep valley, fascinating cave as well as clear water and spring.
Three-Gorges tribe scenic spot consists of three villages including the village on the water, the Brook-Side Village, the Mountain Village and other attractions.
