MIRI: A heated argument ensued between Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni and Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik during a ‘question and answer’ session in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday when Maszlee used the word ‘gift’ to refer to the RM350 million repayment loan made by the Sarawak government to Putrajaya to help repair dilapidated schools in the State.

The amount is actually part of the RM1billion loan repayment to help repair dilapidated schools in Sarawak.

Lukanisman demanded that Maszlee retract the use of the word ‘gift’ when he referred to the loan repayment by Sarawak government.

A heated debate then ensued between Lukanisman and Maszlee with Jelutong MP RSN Rayer cutting in a few times.

The commotion forced the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof to order the Sibuti MP and Jelutong MP to sit down.

Maszlee was giving his answers during the ‘question and answer’ session on education.
