KUCHING: The swearing-in for the acting Head of State (TYT) will be held this afternoon (Aug 17), according to a source within Astana Negeri.
Although it was not mentioned who will be the acting TYT, it was speculated that the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar will assume the position.
Asfia was previously appointed as acting TYT on Dec 1, 2019 to Jan 11, 2020.
For the record, Asfia has held the position as DUN speaker since 2002, with Datuk Idris Buang as the deputy speaker.
Asfia is also an incumbent for Serdeng state constituency from 1991 to 2006 and when it was renamed Semop, he held the constituency from 2006 to 2011.
Currently, it was reported that Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is now recuperating somewhere overseas after he had undergone surgery.
In the meantime, his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib had shared a video on social media of Taib at a seaside cafe overseas as well.
