MIRI: Firefighters were quick to put out a fire at a two-storey house at Jalan Datuk Permaisuri in Piasau, saving the house from further damage.

An emergency call was received by Lopeng Fire and Rescue (Bomba) station at 1.41pm today regarding a house on fire.

The State Fire and Rescue Operation Centre received the report and despatched firemen from Miri station as well as from Lopeng station for support.

“The operation commander said a veranda room on the second floor of the two-storey house sustained 20 per cent damaged by the fire.

“There were no victims during the extinguishing operations, and they were informed that the room on the second floor is a praying room,” it said.

No injuries or casualties in the incident and the fire has been put out completely. The operations ended at 2.40pm.
