KUCHING: Sarawak swimmer Kelly Teo Yao continues to shine, capturing her fifth gold medal in the women’s 400m freestyle event at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre on Thursday at the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA).
Kelly delivered a remarkable performance, clocking in at 4:31.85, ahead of Selangor’s Khew Zi Xian, who finished with a time of 4:34.26, and Sabah’s Chu Xin Ying, who secured third place with 4:38.05.
This latest victory adds to Kelly’s impressive haul, which includes gold medals in the women’s 200m freestyle, 200m backstroke, 400m individual medley, and 800m freestyle events.
Apart from her individual achievements, Kelly also contributed to Sarawak’s overall medal count by securing a silver in the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay, alongside teammates Cheeren Ngo Rui, Magdalenen Ing Siew Lau, and Shanise Jauwa Joseline Adong.
Looking ahead, Kelly is set to compete in the 100m backstroke, 50m freestyle, and 1500m freestyle events on Friday.
