Swinburne holds lung cancer awareness programme

KUCHING: Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus here held a lung cancer awareness programme in its auditorium yesterday in conjunction with World Lung Cancer Day.

The programme was aimed at creating awareness of lung cancer and knowledge about the disease not only among students but also members of the public.

“For men, lung cancer is usually contributed by continuous smoking of cigarettes. Smoking increases the risk of acquiring lung cancer by twenty times.” said respiratory physician Dr Wong Jyi Lin at the event.

The event was held in partnership with Society for Cancer Advocacy and Awareness (SCAN) and Sarawak Research and Development Council.
