KUCHING:The first Swinburne Indoor Open Frisbee tournament has gathered eight teams, including participants from Limbang, Bintulu, Sibu and Kuala Lumpur.
Swinburne Ultimate Frisbee Club President Denise Pang Yu En said the event is significant as it marks the first time Swinburne University is hosting such a large-scale competition.
“Previously, we had mini-tournaments within Swinburne, usually its four teams and then this time it’s eight teams.
“It’s a major event, and we have many experienced players here from whom the juniors can learn,” she told Sarawak Tribune yesterday (Sept 21).
She noted that the teams have displayed excellent sportsmanship and tremendous intensity in their gameplay.
“The intensity shown by the players has been commendable, and public engagement has also been encouraging.
“On Saturday (Sept 21), nearly 300 visitors attended, and we expect even more for the finals on Sunday (Sept 22),” she said.
She also took the opportunity to thank her committee members including Secretary Cyndia Teo Ya Aii and Vice Treasurer Joanne Lee Hui Yan.
For the record, the eight teams consist of 15 players each, competing over a two-day period and will conclude today (Sept 22).
