KUCHING : The Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus will hold its first Open Day of the year this Saturday (Jan 14) where students can explore their study options, scholarships, facilities and the campus community.
The university in a press release revealed that external financial aid provider Yayasan Sarawak would be present to offer and counselling on financial assistance.
“Students who are ready to embark on their tertiary education journey can meet one on-one with academics from the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Science, Faculty of Business, Design and Arts and School of Foundation Studies to gain insights into the wide range of courses available at the university as well as their career prospects.
“Parents and students can also have a chat with the university’s education counsellors to discuss courses, scholarships, financial assistance, industry placements, accommodation or any relevant queries they may have,” it said.
The press release also said that numerous scholarships were available for foundation, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The aim of the scholarships would be to help ease the financial burden of students and their families.
For example top performing Malaysian students who enrol in an undergraduate programme could even be awarded the Pro-Chancellor Excellence Scholarship, which provides a 100 per cent fee waiver.
Besides that, another highlight of the Open Day is guided campus tours, through which visitors can get a feel of life as a Swinburne Sarawak student.
In addition to experiencing the campus first-hand, visitors can catch a glimpse of the comprehensive campus upgrades being carried out in line with Swinburne’s long-term commitment to enhancing the campus experience for students.
Thus, the university will accept on-the-spot applications and provide same-day offer letters during the open day event for those who meet the entry criteria.
“Students are advised to bring along relevant original documents for on-the spot application purposes.
“The open day targets SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level school-leavers.”
Separately, in conjunction with its Open Day, Swinburne Sarawak will also be holding a “Programme Preview on Quantity Surveying: The Next Gen_Career” from 2pm to 2.30pm which will be presented by the university lecturers.
