KUCHING: The Women Leadership Foundation (WLF) will be organising the Sarawak Women of Tomorrow (SWOT-2023) Boot Camp from June 10 to 13.
In a courtesy call on Sarawak Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Sri Fatimah Abdullah at Baitulmakmur Building 2 here on Friday (April 14), WLF deputy chairperson II Datuk Zunaidah Idris informed and invited Fatimah to launch the programme in Kuching.
Zunaidah added that the boot camp aimed at providing a platform for women leaders to understand the importance of sustainability, digitalisation and its benefits, as well as gain insights into government policies in Sarawak.
“The three-day programme would feature various sessions and workshops focusing on leadership development, entrepreneurship, and leveraging digital technologies for business growth.
“The purpose of the programme is also to develop, polish and create new Sarawak women leaders, young talent that would be given an opportunity for a senior position at a decision-making level.
“And it is high time that women be given an opportunity at decision-making positions, not just at a corporate level but also at the public sector.”
When asked by the media whether or not through the programme there was a possibility in future for a first female Premier of Sarawak, Fatimah said the possibility was there.
“But first, we have to first look at our own self, where are our areas of weaknesses, strengths, and especially on the weakness we have to make sure that it doesn’t remain as a weakness.
“So we have to build up our capacity and capabilities,” she explained.
SWOT-2023 this year is anticipating approximately 50 participants for the programme, which strives to create opportunities for women by strategising, developing, and mentoring women leaders so they can become part of crucial decision-making processes and reach the highest levels of company management where they rightfully deserve to be.
