SINGER Datuk Syafinaz Selamat admitted that she readily accepts criticism from fans who dislike her performances.

The 50-year-old vocal coach and music lecturer, who is also a resident “All Stars Gegar Vaganza” judge, said in a recent interview that she always welcomed constructive feedback on her performances, including her most recent one at Konsert Ini Baru Bintang 3 RTM last Saturday.

“As an entertainer, I am always open to criticism. If I feel it is justified and will help me improve in the future, I will readily accept it,” she said.

Syafinaz admitted that even though the public felt that an experienced singer like herself should not make mistakes, she was only human and bound to make mistakes at times.

“To be honest, I still take lessons to improve my vocals. Learning is a process that never stops. What’s most important is self-improvement.”

A TikTok video of Syafinaz at the recent concert went viral, and many netizens criticised her performance of the song “Europa”, originally sung by Spanish singer Monica Naranjo.

Many said that her pronunciations were not clear, and this affected her delivery of the power-packed Spanish song.
