MIRI: More companies in the state are urged to register under the Sarawak Workforce Information System (SWIS) this year.

The Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Deputy Permanent Secretary Anielia Siam said, currently 230 companies have registered with SWIS.

MEITD, she added, is aiming to register 800 companies or employers under SWIS this year.

“We need more companies in Sarawak to come forward and register with SWIS so that we have more stable data to help the state government with the workforce planning,” she said here yesterday in during a one-day labour law workshop and the introduction to SWIS here.

A total of 150 companies or employers in Miri Division were attending the event.

The event was collaboration between University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Holdings with MEITD.

SWIS was first developed back in 2017 and launched by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg in 2019.

It is a web-based online system designed to capture the current as well as the projected workforce supply and demand in Sarawak.
