Tabloids well-received in Mukah

MUKAH: New Sarawak Tribune (ST) and its sister paper Suara Sarawak (SV), which hit the streets of four districts (Mukah, Dalat, Daro and Matu) and sub-districts (Balingian, Belawai and Oya) have received good response from the residents.

The tabloids were introduced and distributed free from last Tuesday until Sunday.

Azni Sahari, 47, when met at Balingian market, said the contents of both papers were very good and they have many things to read.

“I like to read SV because it contains both news in Bahasa Melayu and Iban,” he said.

Carolina Lai and Rosyun Una from Kampung Suyong Balingian also gave a thumbs-up to the two papers.

Both said it was the kind of papers they have been waiting for as they are easier to read.

“What we want to see in the newspapers is fair reporting, and both ST and SV deliver it,” Rosyun said.

She urged the public to support the newspapers in order to know current issues.

Chairman of Pasar Sabtu Oya (PSO), Arini Suhaili from Kampung Boom Oya, said the people of Oya are very excited to see the new newspapers.

ST and SV have been promoting PSO as a public attraction, which will create much awareness of the area,” he said.

He also said it is a good initiative to have the news put online platforms such as Facebook so more people will know about the market.

For Izam Samah from Dalat, the newspapers will be able to instill the love of reading among the young.

“The news content covers from local events, entertainment and politics to international affairs which are very good,” he said.

Saat Lee, when met at Mukah Bus Terminal, said ST and SV have always been his choice of newspapers.

“I wish more people would continue to support them,” he said.

ST and SV are now available at Taat Choon shop, Petronas and Shell fuel stations, Mukah Bus Terminal, Glory Company, Sheng Yii, Chai Guan Bookstore, Mukah Bookstore, and Rahna Sewing Shop at Medan Ria.
