KUCHING: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) will continue with its efforts in giving assistance and helping the needy.

Its general manager Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie, during a press conference yesterday (Apr 12), said TBS has introduced several initiatives this year such as ‘Kasih Ramadan’ and ‘Kasih Kenyalang’.

“For Kasih Ramadan, we have our ‘Ummah Distribution Centre’ in Kuching which we use to distribute and channel aids to about 2,000 asnaf (poor) families under the ‘fakir miskin’ category statewide.

“This will be a continuous effort by all TBS manpower throughout the state. We also remain open towards channelling other forms of aid,” he said.

Meanwhile, for Kasih Kenyalang, he explained that the television series, which is a joint effort with TV Al-Hijrah, will be extended for another six episodes after airing seven episodes last year.

“The series, which will highlight all TBS assistance, will be on air every Monday at 5.30pm starting next week. I would like to urge everyone to tune in to Kasih Kenyalang,” said Mohd Shibli.

He also touched on ‘Jejak Asnaf Version 3’, a mobile app that aims to ensure that not a single eligible asnaf individual will be left out from receiving the assistance.

“We want to simplify the process of identifying them. Before this, we have to go on the ground to conduct our own investigation upon receiving the information from the public. That alone takes a lot of time.

“In Version 3, members of the public are able to perform simple investigation based on a set of questions on our behalf. This would cut short the overall process and as a result, assistance can be handed out in time,” he said.

Mohd Shibli then reminded everyone to always comply with the standard operating procedures to curb the spread of Covid-19.
