Tabung Haji donates hearse and passenger vans to Sarawak mosques and education centre

KUCHING: Tabung Haji (TH) donated two hearse vans and a passenger van to two mosques and an education centre in Sarawak, as part of a nationwide initiative.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said the donation is part of a more extensive endeavour, encompassing 25 hearse vans and 15 passenger vans, with a total allocation exceeding RM5 million.

“The two hearse vans are handed over to Masjid Darul Halim Mosque in Sibu and Masjid Ar Rahmah in Sarikei, while a passenger van is given to Pusat Pendidikan Muhammad Al Fateh in Samarahan,” he said during the Mobility Vehicle Donation Programme at the Raia Hotel and Convention Centre here today (Sept 16).

He expressed hope that the recipients, namely the management of these institutions, will use these vehicles for the benefit of Muslims, surrounding residents, and students.

“Through this Mobility Programme, a total of 136 vehicles have been donated, benefiting more than 300,000 Muslims nationwide,” Dr Mohd Na’im added.

also encouraged religious organisations and corporate entities to undertake similar initiatives, emphasising the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes to support those in need.

Meanwhile, TH Sabah and Sarawak Regional Director Datin Nurlaila Sa’id highlighted that TH is committed to helping the needy through zakat payments every year in every state.

“In addition to paying zakat, TH also implements the Zakat CSR Programme, which directly contributes to selected tradesmen through the organisation of programmes in the form of education, community, health, and entrepreneurship,” she said.

The TH Mobility Programme, initially launched in 2016, distributes various vehicles or multi-purpose vans to the recipients of donations.

It began by targeting rural mosques in Peninsular Malaysia that required vehicles for the management of remains and expanded to include Sabah and Sarawak in 2021, encompassing mosques, suraus, welfare centres, orphanages, and education centres.
