KUCHING: Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain believes that the strength of tahfiz students in memory and integrity presents an advantage for them to explore fields like Information Technology (IT).

The Hikmah president expressed the intention to provide opportunities for tahfiz students to diversify their education and skills.

“We aim to equip them with IT literacy so that they possess a broader range of knowledge beyond Quranic teachings. It’s essential for them to be versatile and able to engage with people from diverse backgrounds, contributing to Malaysia’s peace and harmony,” he told the media during a press conference.

Abdul Aziz witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Hikmah Islamic Technology College Sdn Bhd (HITEC) and the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT), Unimas, held at Menara SEDC 2, The Isthmus on Friday (May 3).

Expressing satisfaction with the collaboration, Abdul Aziz stressed Hikmah’s commitment to advancing education for tahfiz students, from kindergarten to college.

Highlighting tahfiz students’ discipline and commitment, Abdul Aziz stressed the ease with which they can grasp IT concepts, leveraging their exceptional memory skills.

Meanwhile, Datuk Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, a board member of HITEC, noted that the tahfiz student population in Hikmah totals around 1,700 students.

“Some students, upon completing secondary education, face uncertainty about their future. Through partnerships like the one with Unimas, we aim to provide them with opportunities to further their studies in related fields.”

He said the MoU signifies a step towards inclusivity, enabling tahfiz students to integrate into society and explore new avenues.

“The IT sector holds vast potential for cyber security, analytics, and programming. This collaboration serves as a platform for tahfiz students to tap into these opportunities.”
