KUCHING: The Tai Poo community here has been urged to continue the spirit of their forefathers who were into social development.
Its chairwoman Lo Siew Fung said this included continuing to contribute to the preservation and development of Tai Poo culture and Chinese education.
“The Tai Poo Association is now 101 years old, and we need to remain united so that we can maintain our spirit,” she said at the Tai Poo Community Association Kuching, Samarahan, Sri Aman Division’s 101st anniversary dinner at a restaurant here on Sunday night (Nov 21).
She said the association had worked very hard and had helped underprivileged students as well as raised money to upgrade classrooms of Chinese schools.
“Such a spirit of cooperativeness must be strengthened, treasured and passed down to the next generation,” she said.
“At the same time, today’s social environment has undergone great changes and the key to the development of associations is to keep pace with the times,” she said.
