MUKAH: The late Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud has imparted many words of wisdom to many people.
For Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi, the one that stuck by him was the advice by the former Head of State to not “fight against nature”.
Abdul Yakub, when expressing his sadness, said that he will remember the late Taib as an irreplaceable figure in Sarawak.
“Gone is a leader who has dedicated his heart and soul to Sarawak and Malaysia,” he
said.
The Balingian assemblyman said Taib’s legacy at the helm of Sarawak’s leadership was deserving of the title of ‘Architect of Sarawak’s Development’.
Abdul Yakub served under Taib as the secretary of PBB Balingian branch. The constituency was represented by the former chief minister from 2001 until 2014.
“Looking back, during the campaign period for elections, it was certainly the busiest,” he said.
