SIBU: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib attended the state-level Nuzul Al-Quran celebration at Masjid An-Nur here, yesterday.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang were present to greet them.

Before performing the Maghrib, Isyak, and Tarawih prayers, the Head of State and his wife broke their fast with the Muslim community in the district.

Abang Johari, who spoke at the ceremony, emphasised the significance of Muslims continuing to use the Al-Quran as their primary source of reference in their daily lives.

“There are still many essences of the Al-Quran that need to be studied and learned because by studying the Quran, we will be able to better understand the world like discoveries made by scientists about the circulation of the sun and moon apart from the fingerprint differences among human beings that have been recorded in the present Quran which is deemed as useful in the digital era for verification and security purposes in various digital applications.
